CWG Celebration at NISCORT


Delhi New: The 123 World Around session was held to mark the Common Wealth Games, Presentation Ceremony, on 22 October 2010 at 2 pm. in the basement hall of NISCORT. Anjali a first year student introduced about the programme and welcomed the Director Rev. Fr. Jude to deliver the inaugural address. In a welcoming note Fr. Jude highlighted on the just completed common wealth games, saying “this happens once in our life time, so we were the part of the golden opportunity; the games created an enthusiastic spirit to be faster, stronger, and higher in the minds of all the athletics”. He continued, “Today, we celebrate the spirit of excellence and a feeling of oneness”.

It was Fr. John, the Dean of studies, who welcomed and introduced the chief guest of the day Mr. E.S. Issac, Director of sports Division, Doordarshan, New-Delhi. This followed with the sharing of Jenny, Elvy, Sr. Anu, Sr. Jisty, Sr. Alphonsa, Fr. Ramesh and Dhananjaya, the seven selected reporters, for the Australian Games News Agency, Infostrada, who told us about their personal and professional experiences on the XIX Common Wealth Games.
To mark the CWG, earlier NISCORT arranged a competition. The students came up with human interest stories related to the same during the historic mega event, which were later posted to the http://niscortforum.blogspot.com. Almost all the students took part in this competition through writing, video, audio production, and photo presentation. These were keenly evaluated by the guides and staffs as well. This was equally appreciated and felt to continue by the students and teachers.

Chief Guest, Mr. E. S. Issac, the Director of Sports Division, Doordarshan New-Delhi shared his experience related to the broadcast of the event and related matter to this. This was noted by the students. During the course of his address he emphasized the students on the parameter of listing, speaking, reading, and writing which are crucial and essential for a media student. He presented broadcast handbooks on Doordarshan to our institution.

The session came to an end with prize distribution to the winners. Deiphi and Christina were jointly announced as first winner for the human interest story while Pangam came as the second winner. It was Fr. Shyju who kept us watch his winning photo entry which won the first prize, again Deiphy along with Binai were placed second for their photo entry. It was yet again Fr. John’s term who summed up the programme and thanked one and all equally for making the CWG season a new change of thought in the NISCORT premise. This followed by a get-together over tea and snacks.
