PRATIKSHA: AN AWAITING LOVE STORY

Mr. Rohit a middle aged person, founder of an orphanage is busy after the celebrations of the foundation anniversary of the orphanage. He comes across with an old album and flips it. That contains the dreams of his hidden past. Suddenly he stops by a group photo taken on the annual day of his college. That takes him back to his college days………………..

…………..Rohit a middle class small town boy, supported by his only widow mother, is in second year of graduation in City College. He is brilliant, quite and shy and devotes his full time for studying, restricting himself to a few friends. He takes up a part time job in an ice cream parlor and takes tuition for the owner’s children. His aim is to be an IAS officer, as his mother’s dream. For him his mother is the only lady in his life until he finds Sanjana a junior girl in his college on the Annual Day. He was smitten by her beautiful voice when she sang that day on the stage. After the award ceremony all the awardees joined for a group snap, where Rohit was a part, as he made it for Debate Competition. He was standing next to Sanjana. Gradually he could not concentrate on his studies, neither in ice cream parlour nor in tuition. All girls whom ever he encounters, he feels it is Sanjana. After that incident, his liking for Sanjana slowly turns to be love for her. But it was all one way. It was really a tough task to express his love towards her. In spite of various attempts at the college entrance he was nerves and embarrass, seeing her with friends.

One day he finds her alone and with much difficulty calls “Sanjana”, she stops with surprise and asks what? It was hard to tell what he felt, silence ruled all over. At last all that he could say is “You have a good voice, I liked your song”, to which Sanjana replies “Thank You”. The bell rings, indicating next period and she rushes to attend the class before she is late. After a month since that incident, Rohit finds Sanjana is continuously absent for classes. Later he knows her father is transferred to another place not known where. He fails gathering any subsequent information about her, even from his father’s office. Her memory haunted day and night, it was the group photo taken on the annual day of the college was the only console for him…………..

……………. After 20 Years….. He is in the Administrative service, lost his mother and not married because the thought of Sanjana never weathered away from his mind. He voluntarily quits his service and starts an orphanage, “PRATIKSHYA: A HOME AWAITING FOR YOU.” His vision to take care for the destitute children is welcome by all walks of life. His full time is spent amidst the children, taking care of them listening to their problems. For his noble thought he receives award from Government and his interviews are flashed in major newspapers, magazines and aired in TV Channels……………… “Sahab someone is looking for you”, the call of security guard brought him back from the unpleasant thought. In a while he comes out to find a lady in 40s and a small girl about 8 years is waiting for him. He finds it is a known face but confused to find, the lady with white saree, looking pale, sick and tired and the girl is nerves. “It’s me Sanjana; Sanjana from City College”, she spoke immediately leaving the seat, “and my daughter Sudeshna”, pointing to the girl. It was all total a different state for Rohit to see Sanjana in front of him. He was speech less to find her love and compares the past and present scanning his age old memories. He asks to take the seat, she continues speaking her tale……………..

………………After City College….life was a different experience for me. I devoted my time in music following graduation. My marriage was fixed with Sudesh an Engineer. Everything was fine. One day he was suspended for allegedly taking bribe to grant clearance to a disputed site. He started drinking and abusing me. My daughter was born. My parents succumbed to death in an accident. The in laws did not support me. Usual drinking took the life of Sudesh. I was left alone, the in laws were not happy to keep me. I took up a job in music institute and managed to begin a new life with my daughter. But the tragedy was not over for me, I was detected cancer. Since then my only problem is my daughter, as I think of her future with out me. This constantly disturbs and I can’t think beyond this. From a magazine I came to know about you, I was happy thinking at least somebody known to me from my college will support. “With a great hope I have landed here, please help me, and take care of my daughter”. With tearful eyes and folded hands she pleaded. Sudeshna did not understand what to do and sat quietly gazing both. Rohit felt as if he is visualizing a Hindi film. She continued, “Promise me to keep my daughter as your own and never neglect to love her like a dad.” “I think by now your children also will be like Sudeshna, how are they, what are their names and where is your wife? A number of questions came along the way of Rohit, which he never expected; even he had no appropriate answers. He changed the topic asking, “What you want to do next? I will go back to my place this night and I don’t want my daughter to know about my death.”

“Why don’t you stay here with your daughter?” “No, I don’t want to trouble you, already my daughter is a burden for you and with my sickly state, I don’t want to be an extra burden for you. I will return by a night train, slowly I want to go away from the life of my daughter so that she won’t remember me.” She gets up to move, takes her daughter and embraces, cries for a while holding her, then with parting kisses she gets up and thanks Rohit for accepting Sudeshna. Rohit calls the driver and asks to take Sanjana to Railway station. Sudeshna is not leaving her mother, Sanjana makes her understand that she has some work and will come after a few days, until that she (Sudeshna) would stay with her new daddy. The driver starts the car and Sanjana hurried to get in to the car, Sudeshna also follows her, Rohit goes after her and takes in his arms. “Sudeshna, your mother has some work, so let her go, if she goes then only she will be back, say bye to your mother.” “Bye mama, don’t get delay, come soon”, she waved her hand as she spoke. Sanjana could not control her tears, but in front of Sudeshna she tried to hide and with smiling face she too waved her hands to both Rohit and Sudeshna from the window as the car moved forward. Rohit and Sudesnha looked it and waved their hands till the car was out of their sight.

IT IS COMPLETE...
Rohit took Sudeshna inside the building, with a satisfaction and smile on his face. He understood his waiting for her love is complete. Sanjana her one time beloved is back in the form of Sudeshan as his daughter.

FAREWELL GOODBYE

“Live this day as if it will be your last. Remember that you will only find ''tomorrow'' on the calendars of fools. Forget yesterday's defeats and ignore the problems of tomorrow. This is it. Doomsday. All you have. Make it the best day of your year. The saddest words you can ever utter are, ''If I had my life to live over again. ''Take the baton, now. Run with it! This is your day! Beginning today, treat everyone you meet, friend or foe, loved one or stranger, as if they were going to be dead at midnight. Extend to each person, no matter how trivial the contact, all the care and kindness and understanding and love that you can muster, and do it with no thought of any reward. Your life will never be the same again.”

A REPORT ON ONE MONTH INTERNSHIP AT ALL INDIA RADIO, NEW DELHI

All India Radio the world’s largest news broadcast service organization was more closely observed and understood by me in its operational Head office from the New Broadcasting House, Parliament Street, New Delhi, India; during my month long internship program in News Service Division (NSD) in April 2011.

Being a student of Audio Visual Communication, I opted to do my internship there as per the requirement of the Makhanlal Chaturvedi Unversity, Bhopal for the partial fulfillment of my master degree. The internship was divided in to four weeks program, intending each week for different section or unit of All India Radio. It all took place under the able guidance of Ms. Pushpinder Kaur, Officer on Special Duty, assisted by Mr. Bhat of IT Unit. Who were behind the scene from the very beginning of our internship and designed the module for its smooth function.  We were divided into small groups of two members. The program commenced from 1st April to 29th April. It went from Monday to Saturday in day shift, beginning from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm.; however, Sunday was given off.

1st April was the first day of the program, introduced by two senior personnel (retired) from All India Radio, Mr. S Robert and Mr. R C Saldi, who dedicated their time explaining the importance of Radio in Mass communication. They differentiated the medium of Radio in to spoken language, which goes straight to the listeners. Therefore, they took classes on the style of language used in Radio for Reporting and Editing respectively.

Following day I was placed in Election Cell along with Jose Jacob, where we met the in charge Mr. Naqvee. He explained the need of election cell in AIR. When there is election in India in different states that time the cell is most active. They gather information from the correspondents placed in the election area. The information collected together and made it into a book to place it in archive for future reference.

After Election Cell it was General News Room (GNR), the place where exactly the bulletins are prepared. This is divided in to different desks like English, Hindi and Regional languages. This section is headed by an Editor in Chief, assisted by panel of language editors. Their sources are agency copies, reporting unit, regional, foreign and special correspondents, as well as numerous TV channels. All the stories are put in to approval pool, the in charge goes through and shares the prominent ones in the finish pool, and then other editors do their job. This is a place where all are active to prepare a bulletin, considering the importance the headlines are made with the help of a supervising officer, before the bulletin goes on air, the DG NEWS comes to verify and makes necessary changes if needed. I was given the opportunity to be there in the console room with the production assistant, attached to the studio, when the Mid Day News was on air. It was a rare time and memorable experience to watch the readers when the bulletins were broadcast live.

Coming week was the time for Reporting Unit; it was a good time to meet the senior correspondents, whose voice I usually heard in the bulletin. Here, the group is responsible to go to the press conferences, collect information from Press Information Bureau and monitor the TV news, along with going to different ministries and party offices. Besides that they ask the correspondents to file a story or give a voice cast according to the importance. It was a good exposure for me as I was asked to go to different places for reporting which include Jantar Mantar on the last day of the Anna Hazare’s fasting against Corruption. I also went to Hotel Lalit in Barakhamba Road to attend the Young Women Achievers Awards 2010-2011; Dhyan Chand Hockey Stadium to repot a felicitation ceremony organized by the Sports Ministry. Besides these I attended a press conference in Left Party office with regard to Election in West Bengal. Thanks to Mr. Vinayak who helped in reporting and filing the stories.

Third week was to learn the technical aspects used in news broadcasting in All India Radio. First two days I went to the Dubbing Studio meant for recording from TV, over the Phone or simply recorded the voice casts. Next two days I joined in the Editing cell, the assistant editors editing the dumped bytes in Dalet software. Every day for a Mid Day News at least 8-9 voice cast are prepared. There is a compiling editor who checks before it is broadcasted. Last two days of the week I was placed in News Feature Unit. Ms. Sarita Brara was the head of the unit who asked me to hear the previously broadcasted audio files on different themes. I learned the way they prepare a news feature, like recording bytes from the people and edit it with the scripted voice cast. This news feature is broadcasted as capsule in Mid Day News in English and Hindi.

Last week was a practical week, we gathered in a group and under the guidance of Mr. R C Saldi and Mr. S Robert we did the practical exercise in Reporting and Editing. Mr. S Robert introduced how to make use of the Government websites and with the provided information to file a story. That day from the PIB site we took the background information of Jaitapur Nuclear Power Plant and filed a story; it happened to be the first headline of the Mid Day News. Next day once again Mr. S Robert took us to the news room and helped us to prepare a mock bulletin of 10 minutes. I recorded the mock bulletin and edited in the website cell with the help of the members there. Last second day, on 28th April a debriefing session was organized by Ms. Pushpinder Kaur with the senior officers of AIR. They encouraged us to be a good journalist and at the same time asked the feed back to do some important changes in coming internship program to help the student in a specific manner. 29th April was the last day of our internship, we with our guides met the DG NEWS AIR, who evaluated our program and handed over the certificates. With a hot cup of coffee the program came to an end.

Overall the entire one month internship program gave me an experience of production of Radio News. From the field where the news generates to how it reaches to the listeners, was a key factor I learned in those days. It was a good time to learn when the guides were with us, but similarly difficult when I was left alone to do in my own way. My internship was totally restricted to the news section only, had I given a chance about the various other programs broadcasted in AIR given me more insight. Also I missed the Current Affairs & Talk Show preparation; though it was planned in the schedule could not actualize due to certain reasons. All were cooperative in their dealings; I liked the way they maintained our attendance register. I take this chance to thank my institute (NISCORT) for arranging and providing a rare opportunity to have my one month internship program in All India Radio, New Delhi. The one month program has given me a self confidence to critically judge the news in different angle. It will definitely help me to go ahead with the journalistic skill to reach the news to the people, with out bias, the way it supposed to be.

INDIA STANDS UNITED AGAINST CORRUPTION

New Delhi: Infused with the ethos of the father of our nation Mahatma Gandhi, thousands of people thronged to Ramlila Ground to partake in the nation wide movement called “India Against Corruption”, on January 30, commemorating his assassination.

India against corruption forum conducted a march from Ramlila ground to Jantar Mantar yesterday, demanding the enforcement of effective anti-corruption law. About twenty thousand people gather together under the banner of anti-corruption.

Popular figures from all walks of life made an appearance on the stage and hold their views against the function of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) of the Govt. of India.

The five hours long programme begun with a theam song “Lokpal Lokpal pass karo Jan Lokpal)” (Enact the Bill Jan Lokpal), that has been drafted by Ex-IPS officer Kiran Bedi, Justice Santosh Hegde, Lawer Prashant Bhusan and Ex-CEC J M Lyngdoh.

“Change law to change the future of the country” was urged by Arvind Kejriwal, the secretary of the movement while introducing the event and the speakers. He also said that similar march is being conducted today in 55 cities in India simultaneously.

Kiran Bedi, as the first speaker of the day opined “India as one party” above state, religion, caste, color, creed and sex. She added, we are rich, but we are poor due to the corrupt people. So we must enact this Bill to send the corrupt people to jail.

Jan Lokpall Bill was introduced by Prasant Bhusan as this Act may be called the Anti-Corruption, Grievance Redressal and whistle blower protection Act 2010; having Lokpal at the centre and Lokayukta in each state.

Delhi Arch Bishop, Vincent Concensao, asked everyone present to be united for the cause and said person who gives bribe too is equally guilty like the one who takes bribe. So we must stand for truth, in spite of who we are, till we win.

“Unfortunate Indians” was ridiculously addressed by the 87 year Supreme Court Lawyer, Ram Jeth Malani who strongly said, “ I am dedicated for the cause and  will definitely take the necessary steps to persuade Government to get back the Black Money from abroad before I die”.

Among the other notable speaker was Medha Patekar, the well known social activist, who invited everyone to stand against all crimes and corruption done by politicians and burocrats. Swami Agnivesh told about the group meeting of all parties and all Chief Ministers of the country to support the Jan Lokpall Bill.
Before the crowd marched towards Jantar Mantar it paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi singing Raghupati Raghava, Vande Mataram and other patriotic songs. A mass SMS poll was conducted against corruption and rejecting the existing system of Govt. the official gazettes were torn off symbolically.

The movement was supported by the organizations like The Art of Living (Swami Ravi Sankar), Bharat Swaviman (Baba Ram Dev), Lok raj Sangathan, students from Jawaharlal Nehru University and Delhi University.

INDIAN CONSTITUTION

Constitution of India is the supreme law of India. It was passed by the Constituent Assembly on 26 November 1949; it came into effect on 26 January 1950.  Since then India celebrates the adoption of the constitution on 26 January each year as Republic Day. It is the longest written constitution of any sovereign country in the world, till date, containing 444 articles in 22 parts, 12 schedules, 5 appendices and 94 amendments.
The preface of the India Constitution is commonly known as the Preamble. This stands out declaring the Union of India to be a sovereign, socialist, secular, democratic republic, assuring its citizens of justice, equality, and liberty and, to promote among them all, fraternity.

Although the Constitution is federal in nature but in case of emergencies it takes unitary structure. Parts are the individual chapters in the Constitution, focused in single broad field of laws. Schedules are lists in the Constitution that categorizes and tabulates bureaucratic activity and policy. The constitution provides for distribution of powers between the Union and the States. The President of India is elected by the Parliament and State Legislative Assemblies. The Judiciary of India is free of control from either the executive or the Parliament. Constitutional remedy against any action of the government is available in a High Court or the Supreme Court.
